From Ubering to Uplifted: The Rise of a Remarkable Father

He Showed Up for His Kids Every Day. Now We Showed Up for Him.

We’re honored to introduce you to SD, our very first Dad recipient—and one of the most courageous, selfless humans we’ve ever had the privilege to support.

SD is a full-custody single father raising three young children and a loyal canine companion entirely on his own. For six years, he’s had no support system. No backup. No shared load. Just him—day in, day out—doing everything in his power to hold his little family together.

He once Ubered everywhere to get his kids to school, appointments, and activities. But six months ago, the financial strain became too much. Forced to leave his home, he moved into subsidized housing—a difficult step, but one that gave his family some desperately needed stability.

“I couldn’t count on anyone when no one was around to help me through it,” SD said.“The hardest part about becoming a single parent is the isolation. Not being able to relate to other parents—and having to rely on yourself for everything. Not even a pat on the back.”

A close friend mentioned Mom Bomb earlier this year, but like so many caregivers, SD was hesitant to accept help. Then, one of our volunteers—herself a single mom whose story mirrored his—began checking in with him over time. Slowly, through compassion and shared understanding, SD began to trust that this support came without strings or judgment.

And finally, he said yes.

“Recently, I was very fortunate to receive a generous grant from Mom Bomb,” SD told us.“I was extremely stressed from having to move and really needed help. As a full-custody single dad, time and money are hard to come by. Thanks to Mom Bomb, I was able to get a little relief and much needed support. Thank you. I am so very grateful.”

This is what Mom Bomb Giving is all about—meeting people where they are, offering what we can, and walking beside them as they find their way forward.

We’re thrilled to share that SD is now on the upswing—he recently landed a new job and is regaining his footing. Through everything, he has remained a steady, loving presence for his kids and continues to show up for them with strength and purpose.

SD is more than a survivor—he is a builder, a believer, and a quiet force of good. He’s passionate about making a difference in the world, and now that he has a bit of support under his feet, we have no doubt he will.

To SD: thank you for trusting us. To every person who buys a Mom Bomb product or donates to our mission: you made this moment happen.

Because sometimes, the most powerful thing you can say to a parent doing it all is—“You’re not alone anymore.”
